Death-December 2, 2015

December 2, 2015

I am supposed to be coding my data for my qualifying exam right now but instead I am texting my husband to tell him about another mass shooting. Another shooting that the FBI refuses to call a terror attack.

See, if it causes terror I am thinking it should be called a terror attack.

I just read about the record number of guns sold on Black Friday.

Shootings are routine in America. We just don’t like to talk about it.

Since Sandy Hook, 10 states have passed 17 laws weakening gun restrictions. This is movement in the wrong direction. Like the completely opposite, wrong direction.

Where is the outrage? Where is the overthrow of our current elected officials who refuse to do nothing? Where is the stampede of angry mothers on the steps of the capitols in every city in every state in this nation? How is it that we aren’t calling for an extreme do over?

How is it we aren’t forcing the collection and buy back for every assault weapon on American soil? Why are we not forcing an all out revolution calling for the immediate closing of every gun store in America that sells automatic weapons?

How is it ok for “AK-47 type weapons” to be the normal choice of killing machine on AMERICAN soil?

Where is the outrage?

Where is the massive call to action?

I believe in a new brand of advocacy where we humble ourselves to our shortcomings and engage in acts of bold, graceful revolution that shines the light on the true reality of peoples lives.

I believe that if we engage people in their own spaces, teach them to look at injustices as moments that touch our own lives, if we give them the knowledge of the power structure, if we give them the tools to infiltrate its membrane, then change will take place in America.

I believe that we must take collective action to stop this madness. I am starting a revolution. Are you with me? If so send me an email. Tweet me a tweet. Commit to engaging in action instead of complaining. Commit to ending the violence and murder taking place on American soil.

Stop Bitching, Start a Revolution
